The Imo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the private sector to position the state as one of the leading gas producers in the world.
Governor Hope Uzodinma gave this assurance shortly after the managements of ANOH and AGPC gas companies paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja
Hope Uzodinma recalled that last year president Bola Ahmad Tinubu commissioned companies that have gas plants in the state of which one has been completed and ready to start operation
He said in this direction, the support and cooperation of the Government is definitely needed, thus the rationale of the courtesy visit, so that the Government will be able to organise and speak to the communities around the Gas plant to gave their support and encouragement to achieve their objectives
” To help to stimulate the economy, create more jobs , expand the economic horizon of the state and register Imo state in the global market and one of the producers of gas in the country ”
The Governor, however, expressed satisfaction with the level of success the company had and now ready for operation, believing that the enormous value this would add to the economic stability of the state and the country in general is huge as such the state Government accepted and ready to give all the necessary support needed to achieve the desired objective
According to him, the state in turn requested that the companies should cooperate with the state Government for support in the development stride of Imo state
” I made three critical requests one they need to.open social corporate responsibility office in the state , supply adequate gas in the state to have cleaner energy and qualified for the sustainable development goals aspirations of Imo state to gave a.clean environment that us not polluted ”
Governor Hope assured that this initiative will serve as a boost to the power infrastructure of the state called energy free trade zone , saying with the presence of this gas company will give the state power plant the needed Gas to heat the turbines for power generation in the state and the country
Governor Hope assured that with this development places that were used to have restiveness would bow have peace and.more jobs will be created and the teaming Yourth will have some thing doing for self reliance.
Answering question on why the companies chose Imo state the Managing Director of one of the Gas companies Engineer Effiong Okon FNSE has said the chosa Imo because of the quantum of Gas deposit in the area
“Imo state is blessed I must say the field was discovered in the 60th is a very big gas field contained about 40Cf of gas and about 200 million barrel of condensate ,this field was discovered by Shell petreleum development company in the 60ths”
Mr Effiong assured that after president Tinubu commissioned the.project last year now it has been completate and ready to start gas.priduction and make Imo state one of the biggest area is producing gas in Nigeria and the world.
