In a major stride towards transforming Nigeria’s healthcare system, the Federal Government has
commissioned 16 projects at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital FNPH, Kware in Sokoto State.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony ,the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziak Salako, emphasized that the projects are part of the present administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to strengthen the nation’s health institutions.

He said the FG is committed to equipping hospitals with the necessary infrastructure, human resources, funding, and support to improve service delivery nationwide.

Dr. Salako further revealed that the Federal Government has delivered over 500 key infrastructural projects and supplied advanced medical equipment to tertiary health institutions across the country.

The Minister also disclosed that FG had employed over 15,000 health workers under the ongoing professional development initiatives.

Dr. Salako said the health Ministry has begun implementing the Nigerian National Mental Health Act, 2023, which aimed at creating a full-fledged mental health department in a bid to integrating mental health services into primary health cares across the country.

Radio Nigeria in Sokoto report that the newly inaugurated projects include a Molecular Laboratory, Intensive Care Unit ICU, Regional Women and Children Drug Dependency Treatment Centre, Accident and Emergency Centre, Multipurpose Students’ Hostel, School of Post-Basic Psychiatric Nursing, ICT Centre and Hall, and Alternative Power Supply System, among others.

Also speaking, Sokoto State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Faruku Wurno, reiterated the state’s commitment to partnering with FNPH Kware, highlighting how the hospital’s integrated healthcare system will strengthen collaboration and service delivery.

Dr. Wurno commended the hospital’s Medical Director, Prof. Shehu Sale, for his visionary leadership and urged successors to build on the developmental roadmap already laid out.
