Kebbi State, is among the three states that will benefit from the ten point seven million United States Dollar’s five years project aimed at improving health and nutrition status of women, adolescents and children in the state.

The project that will be executed through UNICEF, is aimed towards the improvement of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in the state.

Speaking on a two day state engagement meeting holding in Birnin Kebbi, the Chief Field Officer UNICEF field office Sokoto, Mr. Michael Juma, said the objective was to provide an overview of the initiative, agree on coordination structure and collaborative actions for implementation.

He said, other objectives is to identify strategic alignment with other ongoing initiatives and the strategic for the project, to engage with the state and develop work plans for 2025 and as well agree on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) framework and supply plan.

The Health Manager, Global Affairs Canada Initiative, Martins Dolhsten, stated that, the $10.7M US, would be expended in three states of Kebbi, Kaduna and Bauchi for five years duration.

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Health, Comrade Yunusa Ismail, stated that, the state government, had make health service delivery accessable to all citizens of the state and assured more improvement on the sector.

While commending the Global Affairs Canada Initiative and UNICEF for choosing Kebbi state to be part of the project, challenged the participants to be careful for the choice of the action plan.

Participants were drawn from the Media, Ministries of Health, Information and that of Budget and Economic Planning and as well civil society organisations.
