The Senate has on Tuesday officially announced the defection of three Senators from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), all representing Kebbi State.

This followed an individual official letters sent to the Senate to inform their official defection, which was read at the floor of the senate during plenary this Tuesday.

The Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin who presided over the session read the individual letters on reasons for their defection to APC.

The three Senators are Senator Adamu Alleiro kebbi central, Senator Yahya Abdullahi kebbi North and Senator Garba Musa Maidoki from kebbi south

Their defection, however, drew the attention and presence of eminent party officials such a APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), and Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, who were at the Senate in a show of solidarity.

The switch by the three lawmakers is expected to strengthen the APC’s political base in Kebbi State and enhance its representation in the National Assembly, as political parties continue to reposition ahead of the next electoral cycle.

One of their reasons for leaving the PDP in the letters include internal party dynamics and strategic realignments at both state and national levels, but assured their continued commitments to the socio economic development of their supporters in the state and the country in general.
