Federal Government has been advised to avoid actions that may worsen the hardship faced by retired workers in the country.

A financial expert, Professor Yusha’u Ibrahim Ango , gave the advice in Kaduna, expressing dismay over reports that adequate provisions were not made for pension arrears in this year’s ₦54.5 trillion budget.

Professor Yusha’u Ango wondered what the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate PTAD, Ms. Tolulope Oduniyi, presented at the National Assembly during the budget defense before its passage and subsequent signing into law by President Bola Tinubu.

He suggested presentation of supplementary appropriation bill for payment of the arrears promised by relevant authorities in the past to alleviate sufferings of the senior citizens and justify their sacrifices to the nation.

Efforts to get reaction from chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Pension Alhaji Huseini Jalo proved abortive despite calls and messages to his telephone on the budgetary issues
