One thousand four hundred and seven seats have been allocated to the Taraba State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board for the 2025 Intending Pilgrims to the Holy Land of Saudi Arabia.
The outgoing Executive Secretary of the Board, Umar Ahmed Chiroma, stated this while speaking to newsmen about the level of preparations for the hitch-free 2025 Hajj exercise.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and is observed annually by the Muslim faithful at least once in a lifetime.
Chiroma said that the board had reached an advanced stage in terms of preparations as directed by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON, adding that over 500 Intending Pilgrims from the state have completed their money.
Alhaji Ahmed Umar Chiroma added that Currently, over five thousand Pilgrims have paid their Hajj fares, calling on the Remaining Pilgrims to hurriedly pay to meet the Dateline Set aside by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON.
He explained that the board had experienced low patronage this year from the Intending Pilgrims, attributing it to the economic meltdown as farm produce and cattle have significantly dropped in price.
The Executive Secretary described farmers and herders as the major patronizers of Hajj seats in the state, pointing out that the state government has paid for fifty (50) seats.
Chiroma further revealed that the board will soon commence vaccination and screening of the Intending Pilgrims as part of the finishing touches of Hajj preparations.
According to him, the board has finalized arrangements for the camping of the Intending Pilgrims in Jalingo, the State Capital.
The outgoing executive secretary made it clear that the board officials had visited Saudi Arabia and got befitting accommodations for Taraba State Pilgrims.
