Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a new Committee to oversee the operations of Palliative Shops across the state, in a bid to strengthen efforts aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
The initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to providing relief and ensuring food security for vulnerable households.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim, highlighted the Committee’s core responsibility of reviewing the report submitted by the previous Committee.
He said this would help in improving the effectiveness and sustainability of the palliative distribution programme.
Malam Bala urged members of the Committee to justify the confidence reposed in them by carrying out their duties with dedication and transparency.
He stressed the need for accountability and coordination to ensure that the programme achieves its intended impact.
The newly inaugurated Committee is chaired by the Commissioner for Environment, with key members including commissioners from various ministries, security advisers, and representatives of labour unions such as the NLC and TUC.
The Permanent Secretary, Research Evaluation and Political Affairs, will serve as the Committee’s Secretary.
In his remarks, Committee Chairman Dr. Nura Ibrahim Kazaure expressed appreciation to the government for the opportunity to serve.
He assured that the Committee would work diligently and in the best interest of the people of Jigawa State.
