Former National Assembly member, Senator Mas’ud El-Jibril Doguwa, says granting autonomy to local governments would ensure peace and progress in the country.

In an interview in Kaduna, Senator Doguwa expressed his delight over the Supreme Court’s judgment on the matter.

He emphasized the need for the Federal Government to fully implement the ruling, despite opposition from some state governors, whom he accused of having ulterior motives.

The senator, who has been advocating for the payment of retirees’ benefits as directed by President Bola Tinubu, also called for the intervention of anti-corruption agencies to resolve the lingering issue and alleviate the suffering of pensioners across the country.
