In line with the Jigawa State Government’s Agricultural Transformation Initiative, the State Executive Council has approved over ₦1.5 billion for the launch of the newly established Jigawa Farm Mechanization Service Company.

The State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed, disclosed this to journalists shortly after the State Executive Council meeting held at Government House, Dutse, the state capital.

According to him, the company is expected to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness in agricultural value chains across the state.

Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed further explained that, the council had also approved the sum of over Nine Hundred and Sixty-Nine Million naira in furtherance of the farm mechanization service company’s operations.

He said, the approval covers the payment of custom duties and government taxes for agricultural mechanization equipment and spare parts purchased from China.

Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed pointed out that, the council has deliberated on a draft Bill for the establishment of Jigawa State Flood Disaster Trust Fund.

The Commissioner added that, the approval aligned with Governor Umar Namadi’s commitment to tackling flood problems in the state through long-term solutions.

Allhaji Sagir said, following the deliberation, the Council approved the Bill and directed it to the State House of Assembly for consideration.
