The Federal University Of Technology-FUT Minna in Niger state, says it will continue to provide an enabling environment for academics that engage in research findings to thrive.
This is with a view to enable them come up with cutting age researches and breakthrough that would provide solutions to most of the problems bedeviling Nigeria and Africa.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Faruk Adamu Kuta stated this while declaring opened, the second International Conference on Mathematical modelling, optimization and analysis of disease dynamics 2025 held at the Gidan Kwano Campus in Minna.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof Uno Essang Uno, the Vice Chancellor, commended the Department of Mathematics and members of Maths Model Research Group, FUT Minna for doing a great job, while assuring them of continued support at all time to succeed.
In his remarks the Chairman Local Organizing Committee, Math Model Research Group Department of Mathematics FUT Minna, Prof Niniola Akinwande, lamented that Academics are strangled economically due to lack of patronage and encouragement from governments but however said for them at FUT Minna he can confidently said their administration headed by the Vice Chancellor Faruk Adamu Kuta is firmly and strongly behind them.
Prof Niniola Akinwande, further explained that the International Conference is to also served as an opportunity for researchers in Mathematics who are working and doesn’t have forum to publicize whatever they have accomplished for their findings, stressing that their focus majorly is on disease modelling.
Also speaking, the Head Of Department Mathematics FUT Minna, Prof Abdullahi Idris Enagi, maintained that if they are actually supported to implement the results of their research then definitely they will be bold to said that there will be solutions to all the problems affecting Nigeria and by extension Africa through the Mathematical model.
Presenting a paper virtually on the theme Mathematical Modelling And, Application To Climate Change And Environmental Issues, Senior Environmental Soil Scientist, Environmental Monitoring and Research Division Metropolitan District of Chicago, IL USA, DR Olawale Oladeji, said due to the sophistication of their scientific development they are able to predict and evacuate some Americans during hurricane emergencies saying that with determination NIgeria can attain such height.
In their separate remarks while presenting papers virtually and keynote address, Prof, G Mbah, the President Nigerian Mathematical Society, Department of Mathematics, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Mr. Jibril Adeniji Regional Managing Director, Guarantee Trust Bank, East Africa were unanimous that through collective efforts meaningful results could be achieved through the Mathematical research model.
