Federal Government has ordered food retailers to adjust their prices to reflect the current market rates across the country.
The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Senator Abubakar Kyari, made this declaration in Dabi town, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State during the 2025 Wheat Farmers’ Green Field Day.
He urged food retailers nationwide to refrain from exploiting consumers and ensure that price reductions are passed down to buyers.

Senator Abubakar Kyari also decried the failure for retailers to reflect the current reduction in the prices of items, thereby denying nigerians the relief they deserve.
He described exploitation of consumers as unpatriotic and unacceptable.
According to him, in previous months stakeholders in the retail value chain, raised concerns in rising cost of food items.
The Minister pointed out that, presently, the prices of food items have dropped which include flour which fell from N81,000 per bag to below N60,000.
Kyari noted that, Spaghetti has fallen from N20,000 to N15,000, adding that it is only fair and just, to let consumers benefit from food reduction.
He expressed President Tinubu administration’s readiness to effect food availability and engage with relevant stakeholders to reflect the current market realities.

Radio Nigeria reports that, the event was organised by the Flour Milling Association of Nigeria and Jigawa state government, to celebrate the Federal and Jigawa state government’s giant strides in the dry season wheat farming in 2024.
