Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi

The National Assembly has reaffirmed its confidence in President Tinubu’s administration, expressing optimism that his leadership will steer the country toward prosperity.

This assurance comes with the approval of development commissions for the six geopolitical zones, aimed at fostering sustainable growth.

Hon. Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi, who represents Gumi and Bukuyum Federal Constituency in Zamfara State, made this commitment while commenting on the recent development in which President Tinubu signed the establishment of the commissions into law.

He also highlighted the allocation of additional funds in the 2025 budget estimate to address critical national needs.

The lawmaker expressed his belief that the establishment of such commissions would significantly assist states and local government areas in addressing fundamental issues such as insecurity, poverty, and unemployment.

He also emphasized that these commissions would help resettle thousands of Nigerians who were forced to flee their homes due to insurgency and other criminal activities.

Sulaiman Gumi also said with this development the commissions in collaboration with State Government would be able to help many Nigerians rebuild their Homes and go back to their Farms .

This would address so many challenges of food insecurity, poverty and strengthen security situation as states Governments alone can no longer achieve success in tackling such problems especially at the rural areas

He stated that although state governments were making efforts, they still require more support from the Federal Government.

Therefore, approving commissions such as the North West Development Commission could play a crucial role in restoring sustainable peace and revitalizing the education sector in states like Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, and other areas in the region that have been facing significant challenges.

Similarly, Gumi further expressed his belief that increasing the budgetary provisions from 49 trillion to 54 trillion naira, with the Bank of Agriculture receiving a recapitalization of 1.5 trillion naira, would significantly boost the agricultural sector.

He emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at revitalizing agricultural activities in Nigeria, particularly in the North.

Sulaiman Abubakar Gumi also stated that the budgetary intervention for the Bank of Industry would significantly boost small and medium-scale businesses.

He expressed hope that this initiative would provide relief, especially to the downtrodden, helping them cope with the challenges brought about by subsidy removal and insurgency in the region.

Gumi urged Nigerians to support government policies and initiatives for the nation’s progress, while also calling for patience, emphasizing that both the Federal and State Governments are making concerted efforts to deliver the benefits of democracy to the people.

He assured that, as the Chairman of the House Committee on the North West Development Commission, he is fully committed to fulfilling his responsibilities with a strong sense of patriotism.

His goal is to ensure that the newly established commission achieves its objectives of alleviating suffering, revitalizing the education system, enhancing infrastructural development, and improving socio-economic activities in the region.

He emphasized that the government alone cannot address every aspect of socio-economic development.

The law maker stressed that citizens must play a supportive role for the government to effectively tackle challenges and succeed in its drive to move the country forward.
