As the global community marks World Cancer Day, the Nigerian Cancer Society, Kano State Chapter, has reiterated its dedication to fighting cancer in Kano State.

The Society’s Chairman, Salisu Yusuf, emphasized the need for collective action to address the growing cancer burden in Kano State.

“Cancer is a battle we must fight together. Every life matters, and no one should be left behind in the fight against cancer,”

The chairman outlined the Society’s key commitments, including advocating for policy changes, creating awareness and promoting early detection.

“Providing emotional and psychological support, and strengthening collaborations with stakeholders”

The society urges the Kano State Government and all stakeholders to implement recommendations swiftly, ensuring accessible, affordable, and effective cancer care for all.

“The time for action is now, and every life matters in the fight against cancer”

Salisu pointed out that cancer care requires a multi-sectoral approach, saying that while the government plays a central role, philanthropists, corporate organizations, Private health institutions, and NGOs have a vital role to play.

“By actively supporting cancer care initiatives in Kano State.

The chairman pointed out that World Cancer Day is a crucial reminder of the collective action needed to address the growing cancer burden in society.

He described Cancer as one of the Leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Nigeria, adding that Kano State is not free from its devastating impact.

“The rising number of cancer cases, the financial burden on patients, and limited access to quality treatment and Care require urgent attention from all stakeholders”
