Jigawa State House of Assembly has emphasized the need for stakeholders to collaborate in educating the public and corporate bodies on the importance of biotechnology to enhance productivity.

The Speaker, Jigawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, made the remark during the opening of a three-day training organized by the Bio-Resources Development Center, Dutse, in collaboration with a firm at the Manpower Development Institute, Dutse.

Alhaji Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin explained that, as a new innovation to the community, expert in the field of Biotechnology should make concerted effort towards educating the people on the uses and ethical conduct in the application of Biotechnology.

He pointed out that, as legislators they have critically study the application of Biotechnology and were on the opinion that the innovation can be used safely in agriculture and other human endeavor as highlighted by experts in the field.

Earlier, the Jigawa State Coordinator of the Bio-Resources Development Center, Dutse, Malam Garba Abdullahi, explained that the Center was established to ensure the utilization of available resources through the application of biology and technology to develop new products, methods, and organisms for human use.

He added that the establishment of the Center was made possible by the Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency, an indigene of Jigawa, for the benefit of the people.
