Over fifteen thousand farmers to get free fertilizer for the residual farming in Kebbi as a result of last year’s fooding in some parts of the state.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Shehu Mu’azu, who stated this Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Kebbi state, said the state government had planned to launch the agricultural imputs distribution to farmers by next month as this years dry season farming would also commenced by February.
According to the Commissioner, most farmers that were affected by last year flooding have planted Cassava roots, Sweet Potatoes and Rice in return at their flooded farm lands and are about to harvest their produce.
Alhaji Mu’azu, said after the flood, experts from the State Ministry of Agriculture come out with a plan that, farmers can plant some crops at the residue moisture that would make them gain on what they lost to flood.
The Agric Commissioner, revealed that, the state government had procured large number of solar and LPG water pumping machines to be distributed to farmers so as to ease the fuel cost.
He however, called on farmers to take advantage of the effort of Comrade Nasir Idris led administration to enlarge their farming activities and to be State fast.
