Residents of Babawa village in Gezawa local government area of Kano were left in shock after a 45-year-old man drowned in a well.

Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

He stated that the agency received an emergency call from ASP Kabiru Lawan of the Gezawa Police Division.

Saminu pointed out that the rescue team successfully retrieved the man’s body from the well and later confirmed dead by health officials.

He however, stressed that, the victim’s identity remains unknown, as community leaders and residents claimed they did not recognize him or know where he was from.

Similarly, three people were trapped while excavating a well in Gargajiga village, Minjibir local government area.

Saminu highlighted that the Kano State Fire Service rescued two alive, while the third person, 50-year-old Yusuf Nadabo, was retrieved unconscious and later confirmed dead.

The victims were handed over to the ward head of Gargajiga.

The public relations officer hinted that another tragedy occurred in Kano where a devastating fire razed several shops at Ibrahim Taiwo road leaving one person unconscious while properties worth millions were lost.
