Worried by the lingering issue of insecurity, the Kauru Local Government, Community Development Associations, CDAs is calling on government to establish two military base in Kauru, and Kumana Chiefdom to provide safety and security for people in the area.

The Chairman, Kauru Local Government Community Development Associations, CDAs Mr. Abel Habila Adamu made the call during a press briefing in Kaduna.

The CDAs Chairman said, the call became imperative following the recent attacks in the area by yet to be identified gunmen that resulted in the loss of lives , displacement of people and destruction of properties.

The military base according to him would provide permanent security presence in the area, and help to deter attacks, while safeguarding the local population who have fallen prey to attacks by unknown gunmen.

He lamented that, the community has tried to address the issue through initiatives such as neighborhood watch programs, and community policing, saying the situation has now deteriorated to a point where there is need for immediate intervention from the relevant security agencies.

“The cases of abduction of innocent people in  the area is alarming and uncalled for, just last Friday a woman was killed by her abductors in Kiffin chawai after paying ransom as demanded by the bandit,

“Similarly in Kumana and Kauru Chiefdoms thousands of people have been displaced with others killed in Dokan Karji, Bandi, Rumaya, Kwassam, Kaibi, Kusheka, Geshere and Binawa axis among others”, he said.

While thanking Government for the establishment of military base in Chawai Chiefdom, he demanded that more security personnel be provided to address the pocket of attacks being witnessed in some parts of the chiefdom, and Kauru local government in general.

Mr. Adamu pointed out that as law abiding citizens, the community is ready to work closely with the government in its quest to restoring lasting peace in the local government area.

Commending Governor Uba Sani for the ongoing rural transformation projects across the state, the CDAs Chairman applauded him for re-awarding the contract for the construction of Pambegua- to -Kauru Road project, saying with proven track record of the construction company, the project will become a reality.

Abel Habila Adamu explained further that Kauru local government area is made up of three chiefdom namely Kauru, Kumana and Chawai, with none having good access road.

“People coming from chawai axis have to travel hundreds of kilometres, through Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area to Pambegua in Kubau Local Government area due to lack of access roads,

“this has also been a contributing factor to the delay in the swift response by the security, the operation Safe haven, located in Kafanchan, as they have to travel nine to ten hours before arriving the scene of any attack in the local government area”, he said.

He said, the group is advocating for the extension of the Pambegua – Kauru Road to Kwassam, Geshere, and Mariri, to link communities from the three chiefdom to ease transportation problems faced by the people, especially during rainy season.

According to him, that would not only improve the economic prospects of the area, but also enhance the security of the people by providing easier access to security personnel and emergency services at all times.

In addition, the CDAs Chairman  also called on government to provide other critical infrastructure, such as healthcare facilities, schools, portable water and electricity, to support the development of the area and improve the living standards of the people.

Abel however pointed out that with strong synergy among the representatives of the area both at the National and State Assembly, including the Council Chairman, and putting forces together with the State and Federal Government, the infrastructure and security challenges faced in the area would be a thing of the past.

He appreciated the security forces particularly the Operation Safe haven, for their relentless efforts in securing the lives and property of the people, and appealed to governments at all levels to take their demands seriously, and work toward addressing the insecurity challenges across the country.
