Scores of people have died in a tanker explosion at Dikko junction on the Abuja_Kaduna express way in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger state.

 

Similarly many people have been injured in addition to the destruction of properties worth millions of naira.

 

The incident which started occurred at ten o’clock in the morning, lasted for hours due to the absence of fire fighting officials to put the fire off.

 

Though the number of people that have died or injured are yet to be ascertain at the time of filing in this report, but many people have died while trying to scoop petrol from the exploded tanker.

 

Some members of Vigilante have responded positively by giving a helping hand, through the evacuation of both the deceased and injured persons to a safer ground.

 

Both the Federal and Niger State Fire Service and Federal Road Safety Commission FRSC were yet to make an official statement on the incident.

 

Our Correspondent in Minna reports that this is not the first or last time,reports of people terminating their lives abruptly while trying to take advantage of tanker expansion to amassed fuel, as just recently the incident has occured  at Majia village in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa state that lead to the death of many people.
