The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have declared an indefinite strike beginning at midnight on Sunday, June 3, 2024.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, and the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Festus Osifo, said the strike will continue until the Federal Government is ready to negotiate with the organized labour on minimum wage.

Organised Labour called the federal government to show commitment to National Minimum Wage and also reverse the hike in electricity tariff without further delay.

The two centers have earlier rejected the federal government offer of N60,000 as the new Minimum Wage.
