Kaduna: Kauru LG Distributes 2nd Phase Palliatives, Reviews Village Heads’ Salaries

Kauru Local Government Council in Kaduna State has distributed the 2nd phase of palliatives, comprising 600 bags of maize and rice each, as part of government efforts to cushion the effects of the oil subsidy removal.

Initiating the distribution of the palliatives to the committee chairmen, who are the elected councilors of the 11 wards, the Local Govt Chairman Alh Bashir Tanko Dawaki instructed them to be fair and to ensure that the palliatives were delivered to the needy, vulnerable, orphaned, and Individuals With Disabilities IWD within their respective wards.

Alh Bashir Dawaki commended Governor Uba Sani for the palliatives aimed at alleviating the plight of vulnerable people in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the distribution committee chairmen who have collected the palliatives for their wards, the Council Speaker, Alh Hamisu Umar, expressed gratitude to the State Government for the gesture and pledged to distribute the foodstuffs accordingly.

In another development, the Local Govt Chairman, Alh Bashir Dawaki, has announced an upward review of salaries for village heads across the Emirate and chiefdoms of the Local Government.

The Local Govt Information Officer, Alhaji Sani Yahaya, mentioned that although the Chairman did not specify the new amount, the increment became necessary to motivate them to discharge their duties effectively as custodians of peace and unity.

Bashir Dawaki commended the village heads, who were very close to the people at the grassroots, for their contribution to the development of the area, while urging them to do more by assisting the security forces in combating all forms of criminal activity in society.

He also warned illegal miners in the area to seek permission from the government before engaging in such activities, or they would face the full force of the law.

Speaking, the Village Head of Kagadama in Kauru district, Alh Umaru Kasimu, expressed gratitude for the gesture and promised to redouble their efforts in ensuring peace in their respective areas.
