Sokoto State Receives $85m Health Intervention Over 7-Year Period

Sokoto State Government has benefited from various healthcare projects and programs worth eighty five millions dollars being carried out by a Non Governmental Organization NGO, Breakthrough Action Nigeria in the last seven years.

Speaking at its final project event, the State Deputy Governor Alh. Idris Muhammad Gobir said the amount was expended in the area of maternal new born, child health, Nutrition, Family Planning and Malaria Control in the state.

The Deputy Governor assured that the government would sustained the good work being carried out by the Breakthrough Action Nigeria, for sustainable development in the healthcare sector of the state.

Alhaji Idris Gobir used the opportunity to thank other Development partners working in the state for their continued assistance to the state.

In a welcome address, the State Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Asabe Balarabe acknowledged the contributions of the breakthrough project, stressing that the organization would leave a footprint in the history of healthcare delivery in the state.

At the occasion, the Deputy Governor Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir was conferred with an award of excellence courtesy of his commitment in the health sector.

Other personalities honoured for their immense contribution to the success of the project are Wazirin Sokoto Professor Sambo Wali Junaid, Commissioner for Health, Hajiya Assabe Balarabe, District head of Gagi Alhaji Sani Umar Gagi and that of Wurno Alhaji Kabiru Chigari Alhassan among others.
