Nigeria has defeated Senegal 78-70 to win the 2023 FIBA AfroBasket Women’s title inside the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

With the victory over Senegal, D’Tigress now has six championships overall and has won four straight matches since 2017. Nigeria has defeated the Teranga Lionesses eight times in their twelve encounters.

The Nigerian women had a good start to the match, winning the first two quarters 19-10 and 24-21 to lead 43-29 at the half. The Senegalese women, however, rallied in the third quarter, winning it 21-19.

Mali defeated host Rwanda to claim third place at the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket in 2023.
