MINNA – BIDA ROAD: Niger Governor Constitutes Compensation Communittee

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of NIger state has approved the establishment of claim verification and payment committee for the construction of Minna Bida road.

Setting up of the committee is in response to impending construction of the eighty two kilometer Islamic Development Bank Assisted Minna-Bida-road and the need to compensate individuals affected by the right of way.

This is contained in a statement issued to Newsmen by Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Abubakar Usman in Minna.

According to the statement reconstruction of the Minna – Bida road is being co-financed by the Islamic Development Bank, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the Niger state government.

It however explained that members of the committee were drawn from the State Government, Security Agencies, and other relevant stakeholders was given six weeks’ timeline to submit its report to governortorial with utmost diligence.

He explained that the committee’s primary mandate is to identify each claimant and gather crucial information, including the land coordinates of the affected property and each claimant’s Bank Verification Number.

This additional data will enhance process integrity and transparency, thereby preventing potential issues of claims and counterclaims by the claimants, which could cumulate to any setback for the start-up or progress of the project.

The statement assured that Niger State Government has already set aside funding to compensate all affected persons stressing that payments will be made simultaneously with the verification process, paving the way for the commencement of civil works and groundbreaking in November twenty twenty three in accordance with current project work plan.
