Adamu Resigns As APC National Chairman

A member of the All Progressives Congress, APC National Working Committee (NWC), Mr Chidi Duru, has confirmed the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Mr Duru who is the the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the Party confirmed the resignation to newsmen at the APC National Headquarters in Abuja.

He however could not confirm whether the National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, also resigned.

Mr. Duru said in the absence of the two National Officers of the party at the meeting of the NWC, the Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Abubakar Kyari, would take over as the Acting National chairman in line with the constitution of the party.

He said he expected Senator Omisore to also tender his resignation for the sake of the party.

Mr. Duru noted that he could not confirm whether Senator Adamu would still attend the meeting, but stressed that the process leading to the transition was ongoing.

He assured Nigerians that the APC remained a very strong party built on a very strong foundation with credible system and leadership to continue the transition to the next phase in the life of the party.

Journalists have beseeched the party’s National Headquarters awaiting further confirmation of the development at the end of the meeting.
