Nigerian Airforce says its trainer aircraft with number FT-7NI crashed today while on a routine training exercise in Makurdi, Benue State at about 4:15pm.

In a statement by Director of Public Relations and Information of the force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet says the two pilots on board survived the crash after successfully ejecting from the aircraft.

The statement explains that there was no loss of lives or damage to any property around the area of impact, while both pilots are currently under observation at NAF base hospital, Makurdi.

The statement adds that the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Abubakar has constituted a board of inquiry to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crash.
