Eid El Kabir : Eid Prayers Observed Peacefully in Borno State

Muslims have been admonished to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and assisting the needy especially in the face of harsh economic reality.

Imam Idaini of Borno, Shettima Mamman Saleh gave the admonishment in a sermon shortly after the eid prayers at Ramat Square Maiduguri. 

Eid prayers was observed peacefully amidst restriction of vehicular movement in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. 

Imam Saleh encouraged well spirited individuals and philanthropists to spend in charity and share with vulnerable people especially the IDPs and returnees during the festive period to give them a sense of belonging. 

Imam Shettima Mamman praised God Almighty for witnessing another eid and called on Nigerians to live in peace with one another , and offered prayers for the success of the new administration of President Bola Tinubu and that of Professor Babagana Zulum. 

The Imam Idaini then slaughtered his ram signifying that other muslim faithful can perform the sacrificial act.

The eid prayer was attended by Governor Babagana Zulum, members of the national and state assemblies, former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, immediate past Inspector General of Police Usman Alkali Baba, Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Elkanemi among other dignitaries. 

Meanwhile, in his Sallah message, Governor Zulum said this is the most peaceful sallah celebration in the last five years. 

“We expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for witnessing another eid festival. We also thank the Almighty for the relative peace that enabled us performed our obligatory function. Borno state in the last five years is not like this, now there is relative peace in the state ” Zulum said.

The Governor urged people of the state to continue to offer prayers for sustainable peace and stability to reign.
