Ram sellers in Kwara state have expressed worry over low patronage by customers ahead of the Eidil-Kabir Sallah celebrations.
When Radio Nigeria Correspondent went round major Ram markets in Ilorin, metropolis ,which include Garin Alimi Airport road,Eiyenkorin,Idi road,Agric round about,Zango as well as the Kara market at Oke -Oyi many sellers were seen patiently waiting for customers.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria Correspondent,the Vice Chairman of Ram sellers in Ilorin, Ibrahim Wasiu expressed concern over the low patronage.
He said the price of Rams has increased ranging from eighty thousand naira, to two hundred and fifty thousand naira.
Wasiu attributed the skyrocketed increase to fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate of Nigeria currency.
He explained that most of them borrow money from cooperatives and other money lenders to do the business, adding that it is now difficult to repay the loans because of high interest rate.
Wasiu appealed to government to support them with interest free loan to enable them
remain in business.
In a remark one customer , Yusuf Olaiya said the high prices of Ram has left him with an option of buying through cooperative or Join others to buy a Cow to share.
He urged the federal government to urgently provide palliatives to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal and make life better for the common man.
