The immediate past Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom on Tuesday honoured the invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to answer to allegations relating to his eight years stewardship in the State.

In a statement, Terver Akase, the Media aide to former Governor said contrary to reports making the rounds that his principal was arrested, Ortom was only there to answer the call of the anti-graft agency and was neither detained nor arrested.

Earlier, Some Media had reported that the former Governor was detained.

He was sighted entering the Commission during the morning hours and leaving in the evening at about past 7pm WAT.

However, Mr Akase said Ortom has nothing to hide hence his visit to the EFCC voluntarily.

“Contrary to insinuations in some sections of the media, the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom today visited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC to honour the invitation of the commission”. the statement read.

He reiterated that Ortom would always make himself available to respond to inquiries by anti-graft agencies if the need arises.

Meanwhile, the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the former governor of the state, Samuel Ortom, for honouring the invitation of the anti-graft agency.

The Publicity Secretary, Bemgba Iortyom, in a statement described his action as exemplary and reflective of clarity of conscience.
