The Emir Yauri in Kebbi State, Dr. Zayyana Abdullahi, has appealed to the state government to consider the possibility of digging a trench round the Federal Government College (FGC) Birnin Yauri to secure the school from reoccurance of Banditary attack.

The Emir also observed that, digging a trench would not only secure the college but also give parents hope and courage to bring their children to the college.

He stressed the need for government to engage the services of vigilante group to the college to complement the efforts of other security agencies.

The Emir made the appeal when he paid a congratulatory visit to the state governor, Comrade Nasir Idris at the Government House Birnin Kebbi.

DR. Abdullahi said the essence of the visit was to congratulate Dr Idris on his success at polls as well as subsequent inauguration as the governor of the state.

The Emir however requested for a piece of land for the establishment of a federal institution at Yauri which was lobbied by the member representing the area at the House of Representatives.

Resonding, Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, told the Emir that, security remains one of the key priority of the administration, assuring that Yauri and Zuru emirates were on the top list.

Governor Idris said, FGC Birnin Yauri, would not be allow to die, adding that, it was a college envy of many other communities, hence the need to accord it special priority especially in providing adequte security.

He assured the Emir that, a piece of land would be allocated for the establishment of a federal institution in the area, saying land owners in the affected area would be compensated according.

Suspected bandits had on June 17, 2021 attacked FGC Birnin Yauri and abducted over 100 students and teachers of the college that later regained freedom.
