Written by Abubakar Hamza

National Board for Technical Education NBTE has urged Scholars in the Polytechnics to commence publishing their thoughts, Innovations and Research to contribute significantly to National Development.

Executive Secretary of the Board, Professor Idris Bugaje, made the call at the unveiling of the Nigeria Journal of Technical Education NJTE Vol. 21 held in Kaduna.

Professor Idris Bugaje said the innovations and researches being made by the Scholars would be communicated to the entire academic community around the world through online.

He noted that the Nigeria Journal of Technical Education NJTE had been in existence for over 20 years before it became comatose.

Professor Bugaje added that, from 1985 to 2015, the journal had been the major means of dissemination of research findings from polytechnics to the academic community in Nigeria and beyond.

The Executive Secretary pointed out that, the publication stopped in 2015, stressing that its revival would significantly contribute to National development through dissemination of innovative research findings.

“The Journal is open for inputs and contributions from academics in the polytechnics and universities, including colleges of education.

I must to commend the editorial board within the spam of a few months they were able to gather over 200 journals and articles from different authors not only from Polytechnics but articles from Universities and Colleges of education”he said.

With this, we intend to allow the journal to go online, we have to allow hard copy for one or two reasons, because the authority running the African Journal online flatform still needed hard copies, so with that, we hope from 2024 this Nigeria Journal of Technical Education shall be available online”he added.

According to Bugaje, from 2024 NBTE would not continue to print the hard copy of the journal any more except to publish online.

Professor Idris Bugaje extended invitation to researchers in order to come and make presentation to their innovation and Research committee of the Board to improve them for further processing.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Malam Musa Abdullahi commended Board for reviving the Nigeria Journal Technical Education NJTE, which he described as a landmark in the current quest for educational development.

Malam Abdullahi who is the former Board Chairman of the NBTE expressed optimism that NJTE would make a huge difference in Nigeria’s technical education sector.

“I am optimistic that it will attract a huge audience who will translate the innovative ideas to reality,”he said.

Malam Abdullahi encourages the Editorial Board of the journal to publish meaningful research that would translate to development rather than forwarded papers written mainly to satisfy conditions for promotion.
