Many people residing in Kano have vividly condemned the demolition of the Kano State Government House roundabout monument.

Speaking to Radio Nigeria in Kano, Bala Musbahu and Asia Hassan residents of the Kano metropolis said the demolition was a waste of public resources and would not favour the people of the State.

They appealed to Governor Abba Yusuf to always take decisions that would favor the general public.

.

In a swift reaction, the State Governor in a statement by his spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa says it’s consulted professional engineers before taking the decision.

The Statement explains that engineers have ascertained the fact that the roundabout construction is substandard and has the tendency to collapse between 2023 and 2024.

It adds that “this is because it is done with used foam work and too much sandy materials instead of normal cement concrete.

“Also, the structure is too tall to be placed in front of the government house as it defaces its main gate which blocks the view for security surveillance”

Additionally, it poses traffic challenges around the area because of its size, blocking the view of drivers accessing all routes linked through the roundabout” the statement adds.
