Many Banks in Bauchi State, at the weekend,Operated as directed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to ease Naira Scarcity.

Following the new directives Trading activities began to take new dimension at the beginning of the week as Naira Continues to exchange hands.

Among the Banks that opened for Business included Fidelity bank , United Bank for Africa UBA. Guranteed Trust Bank, Ecobank among others while the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and Point of Sales (POS) outlets operated fully without hitches.

On Monday, March, 28, Banks along the Popular Bank road in Bauchi Metropolis were crowded as usual while the Automated Teller Machines were also Crowded and Working Smoothly dispensing Cash to Customers.

Some of the Customers who Spoke to Radio Nigeria were Optimistic that the Cash Scarcity would soon be a thing of the past.

A Customer Ahmad Salim commended the Banks for obeying the Apex Bank directive and appealed to CBN to sanction any Bank that failed to Operate at the weekend as directed.

Also another Customer Mubarak Hassan who cashed money inside a Bank appealed to CBN to maintain the Weekend Policy until the the Cash Crunch ends.

It will be recalled that the Apex Bank had directed all banks in the country, last Friday, to begin Weekend Services to reduce the Tension and Scarcity of the Naira Note in Circulation.

As at the time of filling this report some Operators of Point of Sales where giving out both Old and New Currency up to three to four thousand as against previous weeks where a thousand naira is hard to get.
