Nigerian Army has organised a Fire Seminar Prevention and Management Sensitization for its Personnel.

Declaring the Seminar Open in Kaduna, General Officer Commanding One Division Major General Taoreed Lagbaja explained that the Seminar was imperative to sustain efforts on Fire Prevention and Sensitization among inhabitants of Barracks and Operators of its assets.

Represented by Brigadier General Goodluck Ugeleka, the GOC attributed the regular occurrence of Fire incidents to Unstable Electricity,Negligence and Illegal Electrical Connections among others.

He Pointed out that fire incidents have led to the loss of Critical Operational Assets with its attendant draw back to Troops’ Morale and Operational efficiency.

He recalled that in January 2021, Nigerian Army depot Zaria was engulfed in fire destroying fifteen blocks, while several Personnel accommodations as well as Critical Military Assets were also destroyed by fire in recent times.

General Lagbaja noted that Similar Sensitization and Awareness Campaign by the division to stem the tide of fire incidents was held last November.

The three day Seminar drew Participants from the Federal and State Fire Services, as well as the Federal Road Safety Corps.
