2023 Election: Interfaith Center Calls For Calm, Respect

As Nigerians await the results of the just concluded presidential and national assembly elections from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, political aspirants and their supporters have been encouraged to accept the election results in good faith with a view to promoting peace and stability in the country.

Co- Executive Directors, Interfaith Mediation Center, IMC Kaduna Sheihk Nuraini Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye made the appeal during a press briefing with journalists in Kaduna.

The Co- Directors pointed out that, the importance of peace and harmony cannot be overemphasized, hence the need for Nigerians to unite and save the nation from avoidable anarchy in the spirit of common humanity.

According to the clerics, elections are simply platforms to choose leaders that would champion the affairs of the nation to deliver to the people democratic dividend for growth and development.

They said, it is pertinent for all and sundry to eschew all forms of violence emanating from the outcome of the just concluded elections , and embrace each other in an atmosphere that will enable formidable peace in the country.

Ashafa and James emphasized the need for all Nigerians to avoid any form of jubilation that could infringe on the right of others.

While they described as sacrilege, some happenings in other states such as Kano that had led to the loss of lives at this electioneering period, the religious leaders urged government to arrest the situation, and bring respite to all the affected communities across the nation.
