Zamfara Police Arrests Female Gunrunner, Others, Recovers AK-47 Ammunitions

As Zamfara State Police Sustained Commitment to Provide enabling environment for free, fair and credible elections, the command has arrested eight suspects including a female gunrunner.

The Public Relations Officer SP Muhammad Shehu made this known during a briefing at the command’s headquarters, Unguwar Gwaza, Gusau the state capital.

He said the ongoing effort was a jointt one, comprising all the sister security agencies in the state recognised by the law to actively participate in the forthcoming elections exercise.

SP Shehu explained that, the commands arrested six gangs of kidnappers including the mastermind of kidnapping of his biological mother on which thirty million naira was collected as ransom.

According to him, the suspects are from Kaduna State, namely as Thomas Ya’u, Abdulsamad Mohammed, Bello Abdullahi, Abubakar Namadi, Suleman Gabriel, and Christopher Gabriel.

He added that based on intelligence information, the Police led to the bursting of kidnapping syndicate and the arrest of 6 serial kidnappers who have been terrorising different villages in Kaduna, Kano and other neighbouring states like Zamfara, Sokoto and Katsina.

One of the suspects Thomas Ya’u confessed that sometime last year he masterminded the kidnapping of his biological mother and three others, and ransom was paid.

Similarly, the Command also arrested a female gunrunner who specialize in arms supply to bandits and other criminal elements in Zamfara and other neighbouring states.

The Suspect Fatima Sani Kauran Namoda was arrested with 323 rounds of AK 46 live ammunition
from Lafia in Nassarawa state to a notorious bandit’s kingpin operating in Zamfara forest.

According to her, she has been into the business and had earlier supplied three AK 47 Rifles and one thousand 1000 rounds of AK 47 Live Ammunition to bandits operating within Zamfara.

The PPRO further explained that one Rabiu Umar was arrested in possession of over 1,000 registered MTN sim cards.
