Journalists have been described as critical stakeholders in the attainment of a reliable accurate and acceptable data for the twenty twenty three population and housing census in Nigeria.
Federal Commissioner National Population Census in charge of Niger state Alh Muhammad Dattijo Usman stated this while flagging off a one day state level capacity building workshop for Journalists on effective reporting of the twenty twenty three population and housing census in Minna.
Represented by his Technical Adviser Alh Nda Ali Abdullahi the Federal Commissioner National Population Census in charge of Niger state Alh Muhammad Dattijo Usman called for the support of Nigerians to succeed in the task of conducting the first ever digital census in Nigeria.
According to the commission has concluded all necessary arrangements for a hitch free population and housing census and that they are leaving no stone unturned to achieve the desired objective.
In a welcome address the State Director Alh Nma Shehu Alhaji said the role of media cannot be overemphasized as such must play a vital role in ensuring the success of the population and housing census slated for the twenty nineth of March to the second of April this year.
Speaking on “The Population or Housing? Deciding the Matrix for effective reporting of twenty twenty three Population and Housing Census” Head of Department Mass Communication Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Univrrsity Lapai Mr Tenendes Ende charged Journalists to dispelled all the rumours about the census.
He also would wants them to contribute positively at the end of the exercise in making the census figure acceptable by Nigerians to achieve maximum results.
Other resource persons that have delivered to various topics Prof Nicholas Iwakwagh of FUT Minna Malam Bala Galadima of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai and Malam Sunusi Yusuf of National Population Census have called for collective efforts by Nigerians to achieve a reliable and acceptable population and housing census.
They have also appreciated the role played by Journalists and commended the Federal Government and the National Population Census for their doggedness in achieving the subject matter.
