GOC Pledges Support to Free, Fair Elections

The General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army Major General Godwin Mutkut has changed officers and Men of the Nigerian Army to adheres to the code of conduct and rules of engagement guiding elections processes in a bit to ensuring peaceful 2023 general elections in the country.

The GOC gave the charge at the annual West African Social Activities, organized by the Nig. Army in Sokoto.

Mutkut said the Division was ready to support the Nigeria Police and other relevant security agencies towards achieving free and fair elections in the country.

According to him, troops under his watch would not relent untill all criminal under the command had been flushed out in the zone.

The GOC expressed gratitude with the performance of the officers and Men of the Division, stressing that they had done well considering the current level of peace and security in the state.

In a remark Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mainasara Ahmed said the state government would continue to support all security agencies in the state in a bit to ensuring peaceful coexistence in the state.

Radio Nigeria report that the WASA is an annual social event inherited from the colonial era in the 2nd World War, during which indigenous Nigeria Army personnel celebrate their cultural heritage.

The event brings officers, soldiers and their, families as well as
members of the communities together to display their cultural heritage .
