Police, INEC Express Readiness for Hitch Free Elections in Borno

The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 15, AIG Yahaya Abubakar has interfaced with INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Borno state Mohammed Ibrahim on how to ensure smooth conduct of this month’s Presidential and National Assembly Elections. 

The AIG was accompanied on the visit to the headquarters of Commission by Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, Abdul Umar and the Management staff from both Zonal and State Command.

Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 15 AIG Yahaya Abubakar alongside Borno state Commissioner of Police Abdu Umar and INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner Mohammed Ibrahim been briefed by INEC officials at the Commission’s headquarters in Maiduguri.

He said the purpose of his visit is to interact with the Resident Commissioner on the level of preparedness of both sides and share information ahead of the exercise. 

AIG Abubakar gave an assurance that adequate arrangements have been put in place for the conduct of peaceful, fair and credible polls in the Zone.


 
Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Mohammed Ibrahim, expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that this is the first time an Assistant Inspector General of Police is visiting the Commission. 

During the interactive session, Heads of Departments of the Commission briefed the Police Chief and his entourage on their activities and level of preparedness. 

Highpoint of the visit was inspection tour of INEC facilities, such as the Store and ICT Department.
