About 13 political parties have threatened to pull out of the 2023 general election if the federal government and the Central Bank of Nigeria extend once more the deadline for the swap of the naira notes.

Briefing Journalists, the National Chairman, Coalition of Chairmen of Political Parties, Kenneth Udeze called on the CBN not to extend the deadline beyond February 10 as requested by some governors.

The Coalition said if the CBN failed to listen to their call, they would have no other option than to boycott the elections.

Mr Udeze commended President Muhammadu Buhari on the redesign of the N200, N500 and N1,000 banknotes.

He said the Coalition also found the actions of some Governors condemnable, because they “went to get court injunction to extend the deadline”.

He reiterated the Coalition’s threat to boycott the elections “if the new deadline of February 10, 2023 is shifted”.
