Borno CP Bags Award of Excellence, Pledges Commitment To Humanity

The West African Students’ Union WASU has awarded Borno state Commissioner of Police Abdu Umar for professionally fighting crime and criminality in the state.

At a brief ceremony at the Command headquarters in Maiduguri, leader of the delegation who is also Deputy Speaker of the Union, Nigerian zone, Comrade Emmanuel John said WASU decided to honour the Commissioner because of his distinctive antecedent in supporting students activities and promoting excellence in the Force.

According to him, the West Africa Students’ Union is the mother body of all African students Unionism which has a strength of 46.8 million students. 

Comrade John explained that the mandate of WASU include advocating for qualitative education on behalf of African students, ensure proper funding of the sector and collaborate with other organisations to promoting socio-economic development of the sub region. 

He described the Commissioner of Police as hardworking, dedicated and embrace all his staff and members of the community irrespective of ethnic and religious affiliation.

“that gives us hope that whenever we have leaders like that definitely Nigeria change. The CP looks at common man with value, been practicable in terms of hardworking, commitment and dedication” Comrade John said.

Comrade Emmanuel John commended the Nigeria Police for their sacrifice and resilience in confronting insurgency and other forms of insecurity in Borno state and the entire country.

Responding, the State Commissioner of Police Abdu Umar thanked them for the award, assuring that the recognition will spur him to be more committed to safeguard humanity. 

He informed them that he has been a strong advocate and will encourage those who engaged in pursuit of knowledge which is critical in the development of any society. 

CP Umar remarked that the mandate of every policeman is to safeguard lives and property of the citizenry, assuring that the Police in collaboration with other security agencies will continue to do their best to secure the state.
