FEC Approves N2.29b For Procurement, Assemblage Of Aircraft, Simulator In Zaria

Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N2.29 billion for the procurement and assemblage of training aircraft and simulator in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The meeting was chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika told State House Correspondents after the meeting that the aircraft would be procured from Hungary, and assembled in the country.

According to the Minister, the aircraft will be available and functional before the expiration of the present administration in May.

The FEC also approved a draft bill for an act to establish the Nigeria Police Force College, training school and institution.

They are expected to serve as centres for professional training of officers of the Force.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi told state House correspondents that “this approval is part of reforms” for the police to address observed “gaps in the training and retraining of officers” and improve the quality of officers.

Mr Dingyadi added that the draft bill will further help eradicate any form of perceived corruption from the Force.

The Federal Executive Council also approved the recommendation for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPC LTD, to invest N1.9 trillion in the reconstruction of 44 federal roads under the tax credit policy.

The Senior Special Assistant on media and publicity to the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande who confirmed this to State House correspondents after the meeting, also said FEC also approved the augmentation of contract for the rehabilitation of the Oshogbo-Ilesha road phase one in Osun State for N1.2 billion and other contracts for the Ministry of Works.
