Kebbi State Contributory Health Care Management Agency, (KECHEMA) in collaboration with the Integrated Health Programme (IHP) USAID, is holding a two day training for the media and stakeholders in the health sector in Sokoto with the aimed of deepening the knowledge and understanding of participants in health financing.

The training is to build the capacity of the newly posted staff of KECHEMA on the designed elements of a contributory health insurance scheme.

It is also to deepen the understanding of the labour union and its affiliates on key health insurance operations and processes including formal sector participation and develop a roadmap for rollout of enrolment of formal sector into KECHES.

In a remark while declaring open the training, the Exective Secretary of the agency, Dr. Jafar Muhammad Augie, hoped that, the training would make impact on the participants as well as joined hands with the stakeholders for the success of the programme.

“Our intention is to find the best health care services to civil servants, retired, students in tertiary institutions across the state and workers in the organised formal organisations”.

Dr. Mohammed Augie, said engagement with the participants was to explain to them the terren and to listen to adivises and suggestions from them on the weight of the conduct of the agency.

The Kebbi state finance Advisor for IHP/USAID, Dr. Aisha Sanchi, discussed on the understanding the concept of universal health coverage, an overview of the UHC and rationale for UHC.

Dr. Sanchi, also discussed on dimensions of UHC and pathways towards UHC, its status in Nigeria and way forward as well as health financing within the overall health system.

The participants includes the Media, Labour Unions, Civil Society Organisations and the agency staff.
