The United States Federal Aviation Administration says domestic flights in the US is resuming after hours of delays following a technical failure in the system of the Federal Aviation Administration.

“The system that alerts pilots to potential hazards is being restored”, the Federal Aviation Administration says.

“Normal air traffic operations are resuming gradually across the US following an overnight outage to the Notice to Air Missions system that provides safety info to flight crews. The ground stop has been lifted,” the FAA tweeted.

The agency has not immediately indicated what caused the outage but said, “We continue to look into the cause of the initial problem.”

Over 5,000 flights were delayed and more than 900 canceled because of the outage on Wednesday morning.

Recently, a huge winter storm caused extensive disruption of flights, especially those of Southwest Airlines, affecting thousands of passengers.
