The Federal Government has constructed about four internal roads to federal tertiary institutions across the country.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, stated this at the handing over of 1.8KM internal road projects at the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.

The Minister said that, the Ministry has successfully intervened and handed over 64 road projects in various tertiary federal institutions as at March, 2022, 18 projects ready to be handed over while currently attending to 19 roads in similar institutions across the country.

According to the Minister, this is consistent with their progressive ideal of improving the human condition as well as critical intervention to support education.

Fashola, said the gap of our infrastructure needs is steadily being bridged by a gradual process of repairs, renewal and construction on major highways and it has reached the schools.

“During the construction, about 33 number of both skilled and unskilled labours were employed in the process contributing to the job creation initiatives of the federal government”.

Represented by the Federal Controller of Works, Kebbi State office, Engineer James Bugu, hoped that the school would now ensure that, this asset is used properly and not abused.

The Vice Chancellor, Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Professor Muhammad Zayyan Umar, thanked the federal government for its supporting to the University with series of interventions through MDAs including federal ministry of works and housing, National University Commission and Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

Professor Zayyan Umar, also thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for timely release of all project interventions, including zonal, special and capital appropriation to the University.

He pointed out that, the road would beautifying the environment, ease movement to the newly occupaid senate building, faculties, sport complex and student hostels among others which makes access to the leaning facilities easier.
