The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has re-assured President Buhari of its loyalty and support for his selfless service to reposition the country in its proper place.

The President of CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh,  gave the re-assurance in Abuja, while presenting the association’s good wishes to President Buhari during a Christmas homage to him.

Represented by the Vice President of CAN, Reverend Stephen Panya, Archbishop Okoh acknowledged that President Buhari had been doing his utmost to promote the progress and prosperity of Nigeria, and prayed God to bless his noble desire and efforts at alleviating the suffering of the people.

He said: “We are not unaware of the challenges you continue to face, especially security challenges, but we are praying and we have not given up hope. We want to encourage you to continue doing your very best, and we believe that the Almighty God will intervene to your joy and that of the people of this nation, whom we know you love so much”.

The CAN President, on behalf of the country’s Christian community, congratulated President Buhari on his 80th birthday, and sought God’s guidance for him and members of his family.

In the delegation were the leaders of the Catholic community, the Anglican communion, the Methodist Church, the Nigerian, and the Baptist Convention.

Others were those of the National Ecumenical Centre, the Chapel International, and the Salvation Army.

Also present were representatives of the Muslim community, the traditional institution, security agencies, youth groups, the legislature, and top government officials.

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Muhammad Bello, who accompanied the delegation, prayed God to grant President Buhari longlife, peaceful, and healthy, retirement.

President Buhari thanked the delegation that paid him the homage, and Nigerians, for the love shown him.
