Yuletide: FRSC Deploys Over 36,000 Personnel Nationwide

Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC has deployed a total of 36,224 regular and special Marshals for effective traffic management across the country during the Christmas and new year celebrations.

The Acting Corps Marshal, FRSC, Dauda Ali-Biu, stated this in Abuja while briefing news men on the end of the year’s Operation Zero Tolerance to Road Crashes.

He said the operation was strategically organised at the end of the year, in a swift and passionate readiness to tackle the envisioned increase in vehicular traffic.

This he said would include engagement in purposeful public education and enlightenment across the country.

“Management Staff, Zonal Commanding Officers, Sector Commanders and other senior officers of the rank of Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC) in the National Headquarters as well as Corridor Commanders are also deployed to the Field Commands.” He noted

According to him, 743 patrol vehicles, 184 administrative vehicles, 132 ambulances, 23 tow trucks and 144 motorbikes are being deployed as part of the patrol logistics.

Mr Ali-Biu explained that the Commission had also put in place a situation Room at the National Headquarters to monitor activities across the country.

The FRSC boss urged road users to give the commission maximum support and cooperation by complying with all safety measures.

He noted that body cameras would be deployed to ensure prompt record and check the excesses of motorists who are in the habit of attacking personmel on patrol.

FRSC Boss added that over 200 mobile courts would be in session to prosecute traffic offenders during the yulitide .
