Written by Godwin Duru

The Kaduna State Gubernatorial Candidate of Labour Party Mr. Jonathan Asake has called on Kaduna State government to take immediate and necessary steps to stop renewed killings and apprehend those behind the recent attacks in Kaura and Zango Kataf local government areas of the state.

He made the call in a statement signed by his media aide , Mr. James Swam and made available to newsmen in Kaduna.

Mr. Asake described the renewed attacks and killings by bandits in Mallagum and Kpak in Kagoro communities of Kaura local government and Kamuru-Ikulu in Zangon Kataf local government as provocative, insensitive and condemnable, especially during this festive season.

He emphasised that government must exercise political will by apprehending and prosecuting the perpetrators and their sponsors no matter to serve as deterrent to others.

Jonathan Asake who remarked that the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property of its citizens as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic, urged the governor to show exemplary leadership as the chief security officer of the state by halting the renewed attacks and killings in communities of southern Kaduna.

According to him, the renewed killings have instill fears on farmers who have plans to harvest their crops and has also disrupted their christmas preparations devoid of intimidation, harassment or uncertainties.

“I wish to take this time to sympathise with these families and the entire people of Mallagum in Kagoro chiefdom and Kamuru-Ikulu in Ikulu chiefdom. I want to call on the government to step up security in communities around the festive period. As chief security officer of the state the governor must rise to the occasion and defend the poor famers in many communities in not only Southern Kaduna, but the entire state,”
