President Buhari Commissions 76 Housing Units In Kwara

President Muhammadu Bahari has commissioned seventy six(76) Housing Units under the federal government National Housing Programme in Ilorin ,Kwara state.

Performing the official Commissioning of the housing Projects,on Asa- Dam road in Ilorin West local government area of the state, President Bihari said the project was aimed at addressing the housing needs of Nigerians.

Representative by the minister of Information and Culture,Alhaji Lai Muhammed, the president said the National housing Projects were embarked upon across the thirty five States of the federation where state government provide lands for its execution.

He explained that all the projects were accompanied with roads , Infrastructure,water supply and electricity to make it habitable and condusive.

The President said the building contracts were awarded in November 2016,at a total cost of seven hundred and Nineteen million ,Two hundred and sixty one thousand ,Seven hundred and sixty Naira seven Kobo.

He noted that the project had provided employment to the unemployed through the use of direct labour.

President Buhari explained that the projects was initiated out of the progressive idea of the administration to improve the lives of the people .

In his remark ,Kwara state governor ,AbdulRahman AbdulRazq represented by the state Commisssioner for Housing, Architect,Aliyu Muhammed said the project has increased value chain in job creation across the state.

He called for the enactment of legislation to compel owners of abandoned buildings to do the needful to reduce crime in the society.

Earlier in his address the Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Raji Fashola , represented by the Director of Public Building in the ministry, Architect,Solomon Labafilo said the project was an outcome of a national survey which suggested the kind of housing Nigerians need.

He said all the houses were issued to the beneficiaries without any discrimination.
