Association of Retired Police Officers Kaduna State Chapter has called on the National Assembly to expedite action on the passage of two police bills before them.

The members staged a peaceful protest to express their sadness over the poor monthly pension at an event held at the Kaduna State Police Command.

The Chairman of Association of Retired Police Officers, Alhaji Manir Lawal Zaria while addressing his members lamented that the poor monthly pension received cannot solve their problems.

He explained that the two bills before the National Assembly once passed into law, would seek to address their problems.

“There are two standing bills at the national assembly in respect of police retiree’s welfare, one was sponsored at the House of Representatives to exist the Nigerian Police from the contributory pension scheme which passed first, second reading and even a public hearing was conducted” .

“The Second bill is at the Senate aim at establishment of Police Pension Board to take care of the retirees police officers” he added.

The retired Chief Superintendent of Police urged the members of the National Assembly to pass the two bills before the expiration of their tenure.

He explained that most of his members cannot afford three square meals, hospital bills and school fees.

He said the association relies heavily on the lawmakers effort to better the living conditions of retired police officers in the country.

Felicia Moses, a retired Superintendent of Police who explained that during her time in service, she represented police at several games, won gold medals worldwide and attended a peace keeping at Liberia now collects twenty five thousand naira as her monthly pension.

” I can’t afford new clothes, can’t pay my children’s school fees, and feeding, can’t afford medical bills”.

At the end of the peaceful demonstration, the members submitted their plights to Almighty God.
