Intoxicants unit of Kano State Hisbah Board has succeeded in intercepting three vehicles loaded with various types of assorted beer, within the Metropolitan local government area.
While Inspecting the apprehended vehicle, parked at the premises of the agency in Sharada quarters, Commander General of the board, Dr. Harun Muhammad Sani Ibn Sina commended the unit for their tireless efforts in mitigating smuggling.
According to him, the board would not relent in its efforts of sanitizing Kano free from all forms of vices especially in the areas of drug peddling and abuse.
He stressed that, the agency is backed by the law on prohibition of sale and consumption of beer which paves way for confiscation and destruction of alcoholic drinks
Dr. Harun however noted that, Kano state hisbah board was working assidiously in discharging its responsibilities to ensure full compliance and strict adherence to laws and regulations, Islamic teachings, good moral upbringing, peaceful coexistence among different ethnic and religious groups among others.
The Commander General directed the legal department of the board to follow due process by handing over the consignment to the court for necessary action.
He commended the head of anti intoxicants unit and his team for their efforts in mitigating the spread of beer and other harmful drugs in the state.

Earlier, head of intoxicants unit, Kano state hisbah board, Malam Jamilu Hassan Yakasai, while briefing the commander general on the recent seizure, explained that, the three vehicles were conveying five thousand , eight hundred bottles of beer into Kano.
He maintained that, the intoxicants unit was working round the clock across the forty four local government areas, to ensure full compliance and strict adherence to laws banning sale and consumption of intoxicants in the state.
Malam Jamilu Muhammad Yakasai added that the unit would not relent in ensuring that beer consumption becomes history.
Recall that, Kano state hisbah board is saddled with responsibilities, of promoting good moral upbringing and prohibiting prostitution, sale and consumption of alcohol, street begging and other acts of immorality.
Radio Nigeria reports that, in April 2022, the anti intoxicants unit of Kano state hisbah board, apprehended two vehicles, at Kwanar Dangora and Gyadi Gyadi Zaria road while trying to smuggle carefully concealed beer bottles into Kano.
